Sergio and I went to Open House at his new school!  He wasn't impressed that the theme of the room was monkeys!  :( He found his desk and asked that his pencil could be sharpened so that he could start drawing!  He LOVED to draw and cut out his drawings!

First Day of School August 2012 age 7 First Grade

Sergio picked out his backpack for the year-Bumble Bee of the Transformers!

Not adjusting well to homework... ;(

I recently went back to the school for curriculum night.  We had dinner in th4 cafeteria, followed by some on screen presentations.  Then the kids were babysat in the Media Center while the parents visited the classroom and met with the teachers, learning how the children spend their day and what work they do.

I LOVED peeking in Sergio's writing folder and composition notebook!  This heart says he loves Mom and Dad, Animal Crackers and Real Steel!  (A Robot Movie!)  ((Did you know that if you click on these pictures you can see them bigger??))

He is into space and aliens.

Alien Party???

This is the token system that is used in his class.  He has to behave in each section of the day. The goal is to earn all 8 and Sergio is allowed to draw at the end of the day!

Still drawing!

A Kindergarten Grad!

We now have a very proud kindergarten graduate!  I picked up Sergio Vlad from day care after I got out of work and it was time to celebrate!  I congratulated him on his accomplishment and he said, and I quote, "Yeah, no more kindergarten, no more mean teachers!"

We headed to "Cheeseburgers & More", Sergio's choice.  It's a burger joint with games that you get tickets for playing (and then can pick a crappy prize), and a big play/climbing gym.

Sergio V had the mac and cheese with apple sauce and a sprite.  He played games in between bites.  When it was almost time to leave, he had 4 tokens left so I took him to the game floor one last time.  There was this big wheel type game (like from the Price is Right) and it cost 4 tokens.  He wanted to play and I told him if he spent 4 tokens on the game, it would be the last game of the night.  That sounded fine to him.  Well I load the tokens and he lets the wheel rip!  Wouldn't you know, the kid hits the jackpot and wind 1,000 tickets!  Kids were going crazy.  I couldn't believe it!  I thought for sure he would get an awesome prize.  Wrong.  Crap is crap but he had fun picking out a pair of handcuffs, some goldfish crackers and some candy.

When we got home, he got a card from Mommy and Daddy, as well as two movies and some pool toys.  He tried out the soaring torpedoes right away!

I sure am super proud of my guy!!

It's a Safari

Sergio and I had some Mother and son time last weekend at Lion Country Safari.  We got to drive through the safari in our car, while listening to a narrated CD that told us all about the animals we were viewing.

It is amazing how close we were to the animals!

Ostriches really are HUGE!

I took this picture and then got the heck out of this enclosure!  Sergio stayed for a while.

We had a great time, one of those places where I wonder who had more fun; me or him!
